Wine lovers discover how to open a bottle without a corkscrew and it's mind

If you're ever been left stumped when you don't have a corkscrew to hand as you're preparing to enjoy a bottle of wine, social media gurus have found the answer for you - and the 'genius' trick is said to be 'mind-blowing'

People have been left "mind-blown" after discovering a simple method to open a bottle of wine when you don't have a corkscrew to hand.

The "genius" trick, as it has been dubbed online, was demonstrated by @ty.ree.suh in a viral TikTok that has since been viewed over a million times. And it's no wonder wine lovers love the easy-to-use tip.

What's more, it works in seconds and only requires two simple tools you'll find in every house - making it perfect for garden parties.

So you can say goodbye to the age-old struggle wine lovers are all too familiar with.

If you can't find a corkscrew, for whatever reason, you'll likely have more luck finding a knife and fork. To complete the hack, push the knife into the cork - a dinner set should do, but you should take care nonetheless - and use the fork to hold it.

Finally, twist the fork in circles, and you'll be enjoying your tipple in no time.

If you think this simple trick sounds too good to be true, then you need look no further than the TikTok that's got everyone talking. In the clip, the wine lover explains she too came across the advice on the social media app. Finding herself down one corkscrew, she decided to give it a go, and the reviewer was amazed by the results.

"Look at how easy it is," she said. "This is the best thing ever."

The video's commenters were equally impressed. One person replied: "You... you just changed the direction of my life."

A second said: "YOU ARE SO SMART! Thank you" and a third wrote: "WAIT THAT IS GENIUSSSSS."

Someone asked: "Also you can use a lighter & heat the top & the cork will come out…or am I wrong?!"

The video's creator replied: "Yes but this trick takes a couple minutes. Mine was a few seconds."

Elsewhere, other commenters lamented not discovering the tip sooner. "That would have been nice to know when I used my car key during the pandemic, bent it, and had to be towed to the dealer to make a new key," read one such reply.

"I needed this months ago bro you have NO IDEA," said another.
